Articulated Boom truck

The Articulated Crane Load Moment Indicator (LMI) is an indispensable safety feature for articulated boom trucks, meticulously designed to monitor load moments during lifting operations. Its primary function is to provide real-time feedback to operators, alerting them to potential overloading risks. By swiftly notifying operators of unsafe conditions, the LMI plays a pivotal role in safeguarding both personnel and equipment, ensuring smooth and secure lifting procedures.

With its focus on safety, the Articulated Crane LMI stands as a cornerstone of efficient operations in industrial and construction environments. Its ability to prevent overloading incidents not only mitigates risks but also enhances productivity by minimizing downtime due to accidents. As a critical component of articulated boom trucks, the LMI reinforces safety protocols, allowing operators to execute lifting tasks with confidence and precision, thereby contributing to the overall success of projects.

Components of Articulated Crane LMI

Display Unit

The Display Unit serves as the interface between the operator and the Articulated Crane Load Moment Indicator (LMI) system, providing real-time feedback on load moments and other critical information during lifting operations.

Control Unit

The Control Unit is the central component of the Articulated Crane LMI, responsible for processing data from various sensors and load cells and issuing alerts or warnings to operators when load limits are approached or exceeded.

Inclinometer

The Inclinometer measures the angle or inclination of the crane's boom, contributing to the accurate calculation of load moments and ensuring safe lifting operations.

Load Cells

The load cells are sensors integrated into the crane's lifting mechanism, precisely measuring the weight of the load being lifted and transmitting this data to the LMI system for analysis.

Length and Angle Sensor

This sensor accurately measures both the length and angle of the crane's boom, providing essential data for calculating load moments and maintaining safe lifting practices.

Features of Articulated Crane LMI

The articulated boom truck is equipped with two hydraulic pressure sensors, enabling precise monitoring of hydraulic pressure levels during crane operation for enhanced safety and performance.

Operating with two angle sensors, the articulated boom truck ensures accurate measurement of both the first and second boom angles, providing operators with essential data for safe and efficient crane operation.

The crane’s advanced system automatically stores crucial operational data, including the first and second boom angles, amplitude, rated weight, actual weight, load ratio of rated weight, status, and more. This feature ensures comprehensive record-keeping for post-operation analysis and performance evaluation.

Understanding the Functionality of Articulated Crane (LMI)

The Articulated Crane Load Moment Indicator (LMI) system operates by integrating various components to monitor and manage load moments during lifting operations. It begins with sensors, including load cells and length and angle sensors, which collect data on the weight of the load being lifted and the position of the crane’s boom. This information is transmitted to the Control Unit, the central processing component of the LMI system, which analyzes the data in real-time. Using algorithms and pre-set parameters, the Control Unit calculates the load moment and compares it to safe operating limits. If the load moment approaches or exceeds these limits, the Control Unit triggers alerts through the Display Unit, warning operators to take corrective action. By continuously monitoring load moments and providing immediate feedback, the Articulated Crane LMI system ensures safe and efficient lifting operations, minimizing the risk of accidents and enhancing productivity in various industrial and construction settings.
